Ayrshire has had an active airfield located at Prestwick for over 100 years and this airfield has operated as an airport since 1935.
Glasgow Prestwick Airport offers the full range of aviation services, including; passenger and charter air travel, air cargo handling, training flights, MRO facilities (maintenance, repair and overhaul), private and military aviation services, search and rescue base and other fixed base operator services such as fuelling. The airport also offers property for businesses including offices, specialist properties, warehousing and hangar space. The airport is open all year round, 24/7 and operates at Fire Category 7 with upgrades on request. The airport is working with partners to create an aerospace hub in Ayrshire for businesses involved in the aerospace sector and is also working towards becoming one of Europe’s first Spaceports.
